So, how did it work out for you?
The decision point for the half-metric came right after the first rest
stop, at around mile 12. The weather didn't get bad until around noon.
At that point, having left at 7:10 or 7:15, I was just pulling into the
last rest stop. I think I saw only 2 other bikes with fenders besides
mine (a black Velo Orange Randonneur), and no Rivendells.
