Steve and Ted,
I took a look at the models again. It seems the Paul's at Riv are different than the Paul's on the Paul web site.

This page says "He based his design on the Dia-Compe"
http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/brcp2.htm

While, this page says it was "Based on the classic Mafac center pull"
https://paulcomp.com/shop/components/racer/

Consider the source, which is more likely to be correct? I'm sure in the case of the Riv text that's a "braino". Both the Mafac and the DiaCompe were well known classic centerpulls; whoever wrote it reached into their memory and retrieved the wrong brake name.

Other than coloration, I didn't notice much difference.

As far as coloration is concerned, I believe you can get them in black, silver matte finish anodized, and polished. Mine are polished. IMHO the polished siver are by far the best looking.

The Paul's page has recessed and non-recessed options.

Paul Racere brakes were originally for brazed-on pivots only; then later they introduced a bolt-on model that included a mounting plate, which is now available with a longer bolt and a shorter bolt, for "recessed" and "non-recessed" brake mounting holes (essentially, modern and older style frames respectively). If you're considering brazed on pivots, this is an irrelevancy for you. Both versions (essentially just one version, only one has a mounting plate and the other doesn't) use the same brake pads, thinline V-brake style threaded post pads. Many vendors make that style pad; however I believe the brakes as they come from Paul come with Kool Stop pads installed. Mine certainly did.

It also says it uses the Kool Stop pads. So, I'm not sure if the Riv version does or not. It's more stuff to clarify with Roman.
