Very true, as is Justin's assertion that drops need to be set up more precisely if they are to be comfortable.
It seems paradoxical, but many find that a more rearward saddle position takes weight off your hands, arms, and shoulders by making your torso hold weight more easily. PJW has an interesting thought experiment illustrating this. It's odd, but one reason I don't like flat bars, as for example those that came with the Race Lite -- one reason out of several, that is -- is that I find myself putting more weight on my hands than I do with drop bars. That's one reason that a recent thread featuring a Hunq with very high dirt drops intrigues me: that sort of setup may be for me the best of all possible handlebar worlds for a bike dedicated more or less for singletrack.
