I've never drop-bar'd an Atlantis, but I've drop-bar'd many other bikes typically not drop-bar'd, and the DD stem is a wonderful instrument for that end.
My favorite (he repeated hisself endlessly) was the very early '90s DB Axis Team with the head cut off almost flush with the tt. After conferring with Riv, I bought a 10 cm DD stem to hold the 46 cm Noodle, and the ride, despite my predilection for a shoved-back saddle and the (by road bike standards) unnaturally long top tube, the DD got the bar in a very comfortable place with at least 4" of quill to spare. Remember that, as you raise the bar, it comes back at you. The final setup was quite comfortable-- and note again: there was much quill to spare. IMO, the Atlantis is a natural for a drop bar -- go for it!
