Unless one grew up in Texas where Texas History is (or was) a required subject in all schools at each level (elementary, junior high and high school) it is hard to imagine the reverence with which Sam Houston is held. There is a certain Father Mao aspect to it. I am sure that many Texans are upset about attaching Houston's name to a commercial product. Like naming a new hybrid vehicle after George Washington.
