I forgot to mention that I am thinking of doing it as a friction shifting
build, which opens me up to any derailer that can handle a 32T rear cog.
So I guess a Shimano CX70 up front, and that Shimano rear derailer mentioned
above would work.
I wonder how much weight savings they would be over Deore stuff. Not that it
would matter, but no use adding more weight to drag up hills onto the bike.
Before you start worrying about weight differences in derailleurs, you
might consider whether you've optimized the weight of everything else
you carry. Have you weighed your tools lately? Do you routinely empty
your bag of the loose change you collect at rest stops at stores? Do
you /really/ need that humongous bag? And let's not even talk about
trimming weight off the engine...
