I prefer a 48/38/24 triple. You have to be a little carefull shifting and use a friction front as no indexing will work with that. However, there are some steep hills up bad roads in Southern China where I live and a little lower gear is a good thing. I also like he 38 tooth chain wheel better than a 36.
