Beth: My 50 mm Berthouds worked in a very tight situation -- Riv Road with
Dia Comp normal single pivots and 32 mm tires. I expect that 45 mm VOs ought
to work fine with up to 32 mm tires, tho' the clearance may be tight. IME,
the principal restriction is the fork crown, not a single pivot caliper.
As for centerpulls, Mafac, Weinmann, and Shimano, all worked well for me,
best with Matthausers, tho' I do have a pair of Dura Ace centerpulls
(perhaps rebranded Tourneys) that worked very, very well (I mean dual pivot
well) with old black pads.
