> Is the Rohloff a retrofit also, or just the disk brakes? Rohloff and discs are original. Some miscommunication between Oswald and I had the bike come with a unicrown fork. Could not live with that. Jon made the new fork, a stem with an incorporated Rohloff shifter mounter on the right side, and of course the wonderful work on the fenders.
I agree the bike should have a kickstand mount. The Oswald is my first custom. It did not occur to me until the bike arrived at my home I should have ordered one. Jon and I discussed adding one. The problem is that would have forced a repaint at least down on the chain stays and the JB paint job is otherwise is still in good shape. When (or if) repainting time comes around I will certainly add one then. I have since replaced the Esge kickstand with a Wald which uses less obtrusive mounting hardware but is no less vulnerable to failure. As an aside, for whatever reason, Jon is sought out mainly by customers looking for fixed gear set ups. He is a very dedicated craftsman and really should be considered by the Riv fan looking for a custom. As you probably know, Jon's shop partner, Ahren of Banjo Cycles, makes the lovely stainless steel VO french style racks as well as the VO Pass Hunter and Mixte.
