Yes, that’s maplibre/maplibre-gl-js#50, which is being worked on. The rendering
of Indic scripts has major legibility issues whether the style uses remote or
local fonts. The lack of ligatures and contextual forms is more apparent to
nonspeakers when using local fonts because of the ◌ that the browser decorates
each combining character with, but it’s apparently just as illegible with
remote fonts even if it looks prettier. Fortunately, none of this is relevant
to Tifinagh.
