if that's the case, then of course my previous rant (haven't had
enough coffee this morning yet) is meaningless.

but if it's compusa's distributor that's responsible, that's
definitely odd.  i would suspect that most people, when they
buy *any* kind of software, take the time to verify that they're
getting the latest version.

how does compusa (or its distributor) think it will move what
sounded like dozens of copies of older releases of red hat?
all it means is that compusa will lose out on potential sales
of RH 8.0 while other stores make those sales.

no matter how you look at it, *someone* is making a horrendous
business decision.
