It was just an example from my experience today. I think that I'd probably be satisfied with Win7 as my dev box if I had to. With cygwin installed for the command line tools I rely on, that is. I couldn't say that with any version of Windows since NT4 in 1996, when I didn't yet know about Linux, and when Darwin wasn't yet around on Mac.
