It is a great advantage to have a large library of tested, reusable code
- no matter the language. 
It happens all the time that I draw from previously written and tested
coding examples using doc I've specifically prepared for this purpose.
There is no way I want to start that whole coding/testing/documenting
effort again.

I really don't care what MS does, just so long as they don't break VFP! 

You know, I also do some web server stuff, and that's using Linux and
open source tools, so I'm not exactly Mr Stone Age!
