Only that Microsoft software is a big waste of effort.

1) download TightVNC, install as windows service
2) make sure it added a windows firewall rule for port 5900, if not add it 
yourself
3) download TightVNC viewer, run it from your client machine using
4) make VNC shortcuts for all the machines you want to support

Bam! Remote control that will work until the end of time, with no further
configuration needed, and not dependent on versions of Windows, and 
client/server VNC
version mismatches don't seem to matter, either.

5) if supporting over the internet, go through a VPN tunnel (also simple if you 
are
in control of the endpoints).
