Oh, I don't mean to disparage the ribbon or other improvements to the
UI. I have seen firsthand how it can improve an average user's
exposure to, and use of, helpful features. What I don't like is being
forced to use it. I want to have a "classic" UI option, so all of my
knowledge is not buried.

I actually was thankful to M$ for that in parts OS upgrades. I had the
option of turning off all of the eye candy in "explorer" windows and
the main menus. I didn't like all of the relocation of core files as
Ted (or somebody) ranted about above.
