Many of today's IMAP servers don't store email under /var/spool/mail

I guess maybe this is one of those 'lost in translation' issues.
Currently, if postfix receives an email that is destined to an account
it is responsible for that is plus-addressed, if the system/Delivery
Agent is configured to save those messages directly to a sub-folder for
that account, it does so.
So, my question is, why can't the option that I described enable a
feature similar to the existing BCC feature, but that (only) after
postfix gets a 250 accepted response when sending the message, would
then generate an *identical* email that is then delivered to the
original SENDER (ie, the sasl_authenticated user), but with the +Sent
(or whatever the admin defined when enabling the option) extension added?
Obviously the admin would be responsible for making sure that the
system/Delivery Agent is properly configured, but that is a separate
issue that should only require proper documentation.
