current winodws telnet-clients are unuseable

i spent two years ago 3 hours to verify firewall-settings for mysql
on a windows 2008 R2 host until i recognized that all would work
from the begin if we only would have tried the normal workload

on a unix-machine you get wonderful and clear results from "telnet host
any-tcp-port"
on windows you are typing in a black hole
