The fail2ban daemon does that for you.
Once you implement postcreen and the spamhaus recommended settings then
f2b won't have much to do anyway. ;-)
None of us are glued to our consoles monitoring log files, some of us
have been doing this for decades, it's a bit fiddly but not rocket
surgery to set up, and last time f2b banned an IP address here was on
the 21st. :-)
