The rest of my logs are stuffed with "user<>" and "unknown" or "does
not resolve to" so they can get in the sea as well.
This is exactly what postscreen - which is part of postfix - and
fail2ban were developed to handle.
I get a lot of "connection dropped" from postscreen, without doing
anything too clever.
Then I use the spamhaus settings for smtpd_recipient_restrictions, if
you create free account you get a lot of information on how to autoblock
things.
And fail2ban cleans up most of the rest.
Some days I get 2 or 3 messages through, most days I get none, and once
in a while there's a bit of a flood when new open relay pops up.
You don't need a new tool, the ones available to you are perfectly adequate.
And, apart from fail2ban, very well documented.
Cheers,
