when you test, make sure "turning off" really mean "it does not pass
through". and prove it (in short, look for a proff that it is so. don't
trust your interpretation).
Same for Mail.app using SSL on port 465. Same error when I turned that
off. (I'll send this on without SSL).
This has me totally mystified.
I still don't understand how using a different mail client can affect
things.
- if a message is signed, then is converted to 7 bit, the signature is
broken.
- more generally, if a message is signed, then is modified, the
signature is borken.
So look for what could have modified the message. get a copy before and
after each hop, and compare.
