Hi, my suggestion would be Mint 13 MATE (LTS), simple, intuitive and if any problems you can still follow some solutions for ubuntu and debian. Transmission comes preinstalled but you may prefer to use qBittorrent instead.
I did managed to convert 6 or 7 Windows machines to Mint and everyone seams to be happy (or they simply don't want to see me any more ;) ) To me, MATE windows manager is most similar to WinXP and Vista so people fill safe and comfortable using it. have a look here: http://www.linuxmint.com/rel_nadia_whatsnew.php#mate Bart 2012/12/10 Phil Meakins <p...@your.it> > Yes its still debian, all references have been removed (12.10 opps not > LTS my bad!!).
