Yes I go with the majority here too and also recommend a later version of ubuntu or even Mint 12 which is better as it will be simialr to gnome2 as it doesnt have the unity / gnome 3 "virus" on it (i'm not a fan - so much so I switched to kde in Fedora) that later versions ubuntu coem with. A clean install is always better than upgrading, just have to make sure you back stuff up before you blow away the hard drive. but you do that anyway before an upgrade....right? ;)
