If he has a managed server, surely his hosts should be helping him with this stuff? :)

A colleague of mine at work has a managed server but his Linux skills
are virtually zero!

Can you help me advise him on:

a)  A simple script that will backup his MySQL databases, move the
backup to his home folder and then when run after that will so so
incrementally.

b)  A method of backing up data from the server to his WINDOWS box -
preferably with a typical Explorer like tree view.  He would like this
to be incremental as well so as to avoid needing to download gigabytes
of data each time!

Any ideas - simple to complex!
