I'm no expert either but being the first to respond i might as well ask the obvious ones first to get the ball rolling...
what flavour linux is running on the server? what version of windows? you could probably set up a samba share on the linux box and allow the windows box access and then set up a scheduled task from windows to copy files down on a schedule, i'm not sure how to handle incremental backups tho via scripting on either windows or linux. i also dont have any experience backing up MySQL databases either, If you can answer the above someone better might come along. :-) Rich novice linuxer On 26 August 2010 18:23, Edward Kerr <e.k...@plumbline.org.uk> wrote: > Hello all, > > A colleague of mine at work has a managed server but his Linux skills > are virtually zero! > > Can you help me advise him on: > > a) A simple script that will backup his MySQL databases, move the > backup to his home folder and then when run after that will so so > incrementally. > > b) A method of backing up data from the server to his WINDOWS box - > preferably with a typical Explorer like tree view.
