I tend to prefer Intel for laptops, as it means certainty of open
drivers for pretty much all components. (The wired NIC, the wireless
card, the integrated graphics)

For servers & workstations I have specific demands that Intel is unable
to meet, so you will see me use AMD there exclusively. As this is
drifing off into a different discussion entirely, I'll stop there unless
you want me to elaborate.
In summary: Both have their place, and I wouldn't limit myself to just
one in all situations.
