I am a newbie and within the next two months I plan on buying a new PC (AMD Phenom64 Quad Core 9550 8.8 GHz). So I thought I would take the opportunity to (first) use my old (32 bit) computer to try Ubuntu 8.04 (Live) on, with Open-Office and Gimp However I would appreciate some help on the following questions please: 1.. Re Setting up Broadband: I read a couple of internet postings dated 2006 from people saying they were experiencing problems setting-up Tiscali broadband with Linux. From what I gather it may have been a driver issue and the fact that Tiscali was still refusing to acknowledge Linux. Some people were saying they overcame the problem by using a Router instead of Tiscali's modem. Does that problem still exist? If so, can anyone recommend a Linux compatible Router to be used with ISP Tiscali please? 2.. Hardware / Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD3200 1GB hyper, will it provide maximum resolution in Linux? Any known problems? Any other advice will be gratefully received. Meanwhile I will be copying my MS docs into open-office and back them up, which will take me a few weeks.
