I'm sorta kinda brand loyal. I bought into Nikons Dslr's in 2001 only because Penatx did not have anything and i did not like the offerings Canon had. I bought into Pentax Dslr's after reading all of the praises on the *istD and knowing i could use my older lenses, however my experiences with those older lenses left me disillusioned. I like the pentax files for the4 nice greens and blues, i like the nikon files for the nice reds and browns, good for equestrian stuff and Nikons better AF. My next purchase will probably be nikon as the K-5 is doing its job for me, and i'm also liking what i see form the current Canon line up.
