Steve,
I tracked down the WSJ article and read it yesterday.
Stat's said the P&S digital market was in decline,
suffering from phones getting better or 'good enough'.
Samsung seems to be trying to carve out a new niche,
something between phones and digital SLR's.
Well good luck with that!!!

I saw an ad yesterday, from one of the computer stores, that touted an
8X telephoto for a cell phone, complete with table top tripod. Amazing...
Of course, it almost begs the question, why?
I mean, a camera in a cell phone...that's one thing. It doesn't harm
the form factor nor have an affect on the use of the phone. Just an
added convenience.
But a telephoto for your cell phone? Might as well have a small zoom
camera for all the room the cell + tele takes up.
Just a bit much, for all of me.

If you have everything in one device you can lose everything all at
once. It's a great time saver.

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
