Keith, you are making the mistake of trying to evaluate toys rationally. There are a lot of things that I've done with photographic gear, not out of need, but because I could, or more importantly, because I wanted to see if it was possible. People would buy the 8x adapter for their phone for the same reasons that people use holgas. For that matter, why would anyone with a good digital camera shoot 35mm film? There are a few, specific, cases, where film might provide a cleaner, sharper, photo than digital. For example, a one hour exposure at night, when your only camera body is a K20.
