Shit Dave, are you guys ok? It is horrible to watch, I am glued to the tv, and have abc news streaming on my second monitor as I am sitting here working.
Can you explain what the deal is with liquefaction? It looks like an amazing phenomenon I have seen it all over the media and never heard of it before now... Hugs to you and your family. t.x. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of David Mann Sent: Wednesday, 23 February 2011 10:56 AM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: Photos from my neighbourhood in Christchurch Nothing as striking as what you're seeing in the media, but this is what our local neighbourhood looks like along with a few pics of my house. http://www.multi.net.nz/feb-22-aftershock/ Just heard on the radio now that the Hotel Grand Chancellor, our tallest hotel, is at risk of collapse. Apparently it's leaning and that lean may be worsening. That's quite a big building and if it goes it's going to cause absolute carnage in the surrounding area. I don' t know which way it's leaning... it it goes the "right" way it'll fall into a fairly open space with much less collateral damage. They're urgently evacuating a two block radius. There are only search & rescue teams in that area so it's not as big a job as it sounds. But another small aftershock could be all it takes to set it off.
