I could never really figure out the software that came with my Pentax
camera. It's Lightroom for me--just love the simplicity of it. I did start
with Photoshop Elements 5, but not long after getting PE5, I tried a Trial
Version of Lightroom and just loved it. I do, however, use PE5 for heavy
cloning, but Lightroom 2 has improved their cloning and also I don't clone
as much as I used to, so it's been a long time since I opened a pic in PE5.
You should download a 30 day trial of Lightroom. But, Photoshop Elements 7
is about $75; that's a pretty good price--certainly under $300. Maybe
download a trial version of PE7 & see if you like it.
