This problem is grossly overated. Firstly, only the earliest samples are affected. 
Secondly, it doesn't happen on all bodies. My 1981 vinatge LX worked flawlessly for 19 
years when a switch broke. I was told they replaced some resistors and the mirror 
thing routinely at service. My camera never developed the sticky mirror syndrome.
