A point and shoot digital uses the image sensor for it's focusing, my *istD (Currently up to 28 test photos to see how it all works) uses a highly accurate sensor which is not accessible when it's actually taking the picture. So you would have to build a secondary focusing mechanism to focus during video. Besides I hate the way people hold digital point and shoots a foot and a half away from them to from and take pictures, I think it looks rediculous! >If you want to shoot video, buy a video camera.
