Well, I feel the need to chime in (once again) with a defense of the K and A
50/1.2's (which, in my opinion, are optically identical, which is not true of
the K and A 50/1.4's, for example), since I guess it's time for another one
of the PDML's periodic rounds of 50/1.2 bashing.
The 50/1.2 lens has excellent qualities at all apertures. Yes, it's a bit
soft at f/1.2, but it's infinitely sharper at f/1.2 than is any f/1/4 or
f/1.7 lens at f/1.2. No, it's not a "perfect" lens, but it is a true gem
nonetheless.
I do love my A 50/1.4 lens, which is probably my most-used 50mm lens (since
it's a bit smaller and lighter than the 50/1.2's, as well as being a bit less
dear for "banging around"). However, if I had to choose just one 50mm lens
to keep, it would be one of the 50/1.2's.
I think a good summary of the 50/1.2 was provided by Yoshihiko (whose
opinions on lenses I truest) when he previously said: "It is optically
excellent with high resolution, good saturation, excellent color rendition,
and great bokeh. It do not have only speed but also great image quality."
