Excuse me John, but he's talking about a 16-GB Nano. It's not supported by Rockbox and to turn the speech on, I believe you need to use iTunes whether it's a 4th or 5th gen Nano.
He said he just won it, and I suspect it's at least a 4th gen Nano. Rockbox only supports some very early models of iPods. I may not be as versed in the iPod line as I am in the Sansa line when dealing with Rockbox, but your statement was incorrect and misleading to the person asking the question. Also, someone else claimed that Rockbox would get rid of the original Apple firmware and as far as I know, it doesn't replace the firmware, it's a dual-boot system and doesn't get rid of the Apple firmware at all. I hope that helps clear things up a little. Laz "DJ DOCTOR P" <djdoct...@att.net> wrote: Hello, ITunes has nothing to do with getting speech on the IPod. You will need a peace of firmware that's called, Rock Box. www.rockbox.com is where you can download it from. My best regards. John. -- Talking MP3 players! Accessible & affordable!
