Just change the sampling rate after recording at 44,100Hz, to 22,050Hz and you'll be fine, no loss since it was recorded at the higher sampling rate. Don't "re-sample the file, that won't change the pitch, just change the play back sample rate in half.

I do have to add in some high frequencies after recording at higher speeds, but it is worth it in the end.
