Probably I will try it later, maybe with a Live CD first to see if it boots.

That is what I use for years. I became a Linux user in 1998 (Slackware) and
became a regular Linux user since 2005 (Ubuntu). I feel Linux is very good
now. But I am a OS neutral guy and I like cross-platform
software like libusb and OpenOCD. I am a "power user" of Windows as
well and I am actually quite happy with Windows Vista even though a
lot of people do not like it.
