Another issue to consider:
Any manufacturers that have already had their VID/PID combination signed & 
WHQL'd (I dont know if this applies to any?), would not be able to get 
another driver signed and WHQL'd with the same VID/PID.
They would then have to sell a FTD2XX version with one VID/PID, and a libusb 
version with another VID/PID. Although they are the same hardware they would 
not be compatible.
