Or rather, "if you're running on really slow hardware" :)  I seem to
recall that we chose the default value based on the performance of
machines similar to an A9 and the Iyonix.  While it's almost always
slower to have it with a non-zero value, it can actually make things
seem faster because it increases the responsiveness.
