Hi, Pawel.
Thanks for the thorough explanation of how you would like tab defaults to work.
You present an interesting and feasible vision that would definitely simplify
the types of usage you discuss.

I believe that your situation can be handled effectively with current
functionality,  though not quite as simply.  For this example, I am assuming a
view "Starred Soon" which shows starred tasks which are currently active or
that have a start date in the next seven days. I'm assuming root folders named
home and work,  and a subfolder of home named yard. The challenge is to create
a tab for each of the mentioned folders showing 'starred soon' within the
particular folder then to  change the yard starred soon tab to show only tasks
with importance higher than 100, then change it back.

Under your proposal,  you would open three tabs,  zoom each one in to one of
the designated folders,  and then set each tab's default. Then,  for the "yard"
tab,  you would add a filter for importance > 100 and later,  set it back to
default.

For a similar result with current functionality, you would open the same three
tabs. On each tab you would zoom in to the appropriate folder.  Before saving
default you would save the view in each tab under a view name,  such as "home
starred soon" "work starred soon" and "yard starred soon",  then set default on
each view. For the final step, add an advanced filter to the "yard"  view for
importance > 100 and then use "reset view" to remove the filter.

My conclusion is that this use case is easier with the proposed changes but is
still very feasible without them. I  also worked out an example of a use case
the's feasible today and would be made much more difficult by the proposed
changes.  I'm not documenting it for fear of putting everyone to sleep,  if
anyone actually wants to read it,  let me know.
