Not necessarily. Take roundcube webmailer. There's a button with two arrows looking like an "reply to all" button. It is however a combined "reply to all" and "reply to list" button with default to "reply to list" so the GUI helps the user doing the right thing for both unexperienced and power users in an easy _and_ standard compliant way. No awkward user experience for normal or power users.
