Since that's what mutt already does with the <edit-message> command, I
wouldn't be worried.  Mutt doesn't actually delete it, it just marks
it as deleted.  The next time you <sync-mailbox>, it will actually be
deleted.

It looks like modifying the $editor variable and resetting it later is
the easiest solution.  It's a shame mutt can't do this more elegantly.
