At present Microsoft advertises only the older XOAUTH2. I tried bringing this to MS attention yesterday: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60176107/before-microsoft-drops-imap-basic-auth-support-on-13oct2020-in-favor-of-oauth2 I don't know whether Microsoft will see that. Several non-MS folks already voted to close it (which makes sense, MS likely shouldn't be directing people to use stack overflow for getting questions to them, but alas I don't know a better way to reach MS on this). But instead of waiting for Microsoft to make the almost trivial change to support and advertise OAUTHBEARER on their server, which would be the correct long-term solution here, the short-term compromise would be for Mutt to recognize XOAUTH2. The technical differences are minor, described in our prior discussion on that topic: https://www.mail-archive.com/mutt-dev@mutt.org/msg13782.html
