Forgive me for my insistance, but nobody has responded to my quandary
posted on November 10 that (g)lavplay does not play sound. If nobody has
the problem I experience I could conclude that there is something wrong
with my installation - in which case I beg for your help or ideas. On the other
hand, this could be a legitimate issue, maybe related to Fedora distribution.

In summary: all other Linux or Windooz application play avi clips with sound.
My Linux plays sound with any other linux sound related applications (xmms,
mplayer, movies or otherwise), but (g)lavplay is silent. Maybe a little static.
Also, my alsa sound works with or without memory mapping, yet (g)lavplay
crashes unless using -U option, and then it plays silent movie. When I
played with environment variable LAV_AUDIO_DEV (g)lavplay is aware of it,
in other words, if I assign a non valid value to $LAV_AUDIO_DEV it
complains. Something is wrong.

Once it did play the sound, but when I tried to recreate the same command
sequences from the command line memory (up arrow) I could never
replicate it. Something strange.

As I mentioned in my previous postings, I'm not a Linux expert and definitely
not a C++ programmer, so I rely on help from others. I can contribute with
testing if needed.
