        I think that with proper settings the SVCD should look as good
        (or better) than a VCD.   A SVCD uses MPEG-2 which understands
        interlaced video and should handle motion scenes better.  The
        resolution is also better so details in the picture will be
        preserved.

        Try "-N 9" and "-K kvcd" (or "-K tmpgenc") and possibly add
        'yuvdenoise -S 0 -l 1' to the encoding  pipeline and I think
        your SVCDs will come out looking very nice.
