I tried 10 different versions for an old dark indoor VHS-C-Movie and found out, that it gets better, but softer, with a combination of yuvdenoise=sharpen=140,yuvmedian and a very low -q value of 4. Max/avg-bitrate was 10.9%, with -q 5 I got 32.9% at an resoultion of 352x576. Yuvdenoise alone showed more noise, but was sharper. In both cases, you could see a lot of artefacts. What are your favorites for (bad) VHS-C-sources? Does it make sense to use 704x576 instead of 352x576 for dark videos with low quality?
