Hi - I know you addressed Robert so I hope it's ok if I chime in ;)

Just interested in the > differences, big price difference (if memory serves me right).. $70 is about the size of the difference. The ADVC100 lists for $300 but you can find it for $270 online (I've ordered a couple of them from www.tristatecamera.com - good place in my experience) while the ADVC50 lists for $199 but isn't discounted (that I've seen). The 50 also occupies an exposed drive bay and, as I recall, possibly a PCI slot - both of those are in very short supply on most of my systems. Then too the 50 is unidirectional (analog -> DV) while the model 100 can do both analog -> DV and DV -> analog. > And I take it that you would recommend the canopus product with > linux then? I know I would recommend the Canopus product. So much less hassle and trouble than the other methods - I messed around with a WinTV card for quite a while, had fairly good luck but getting a ADVC100 this past summer made life so much simpler/easier.
