Hi All,

I have been performing some tests about capturing Video8 (Analog) material
with Canopus ADVC-100 and a FireWire.

Thanks to everybody at list which have provided me with very useful information
about the processes (Aaron Newsome, Steven M. Schultz, Robert Kesterson,
Martin Collins, etc... sorry if I forget to mention some others) to be
followed.

I am still working on it but I am really confused (mainly because my knowledge
of Video is limited) about what probably are "simple basic concepts".

My main concern when buying the Canopus Box was to Digitize my old Video8 (Analog)
tapes and also to capture some TV programs.

Maybe it is impossible what I am trying to reach so that is maily the reason
of this message. (I hope I could express the idea with my limited English).

I got some DV raw material [Analog Camera --> Canopus Box --> Firewire]
with kino (I know it can be done also with dvgrab).

I did run that DV raw material with MPlayer in my computer:
- Audio is great aceptable.
- Video quality is not perfect but it is acceptable.
Although when looking at that movie on the TV with the Analog Camera
connected to the TV set, I would say that the quality of video is better;
maybe not much better but some more clear. I guess it is normal or
maybe that is a stupid comparation.
O:-)

My main doubt:
Can I get a better quality of "Video" than the one
at the DV raw material ?

Maybe it is a fool question but if the quality of the original DV raw
material can not be improved and also it can not be improved during the
later processing process (conversion to Divx) then I can not expect to
get a final good quality of the Divx (Video is my concern now).

Sorry for the length of my email and sorry also if I have put too
many non-sense questions, doubts in here.

Best regards and have a nice day,

Javi, _____ [EMAIL PROTECTED]
