This just underscores how completely uninformed you are. I work with a large amount of hardware vendors. All of them now use gcc on windows for firmware development. These companies used UNIX/Linux in the past until it became so easy to use gcc on windows. It even integrates with visual slick edit!! One of my colleagues is a religious emacs user. He uses it for everything. He dropped Linux on the floor in favor of windows because now he can use word and excel to import/export stuff into emacs. I can go on for a while. I can insult you some more but I am not sure you'd get it.
