The point is that like DRM the GPL restricts what you can do and how you can use the code. The BSD license doesn't.
what do you mean?  I mean how is GPL related to DRM?
Generally I try to avoid licensing discussions and

I know GPL3 has a lot dealing with DRM (or so I've heard)
but GPL2 doesn't (supposedly, I really don't know).
